Quote Me, Howie

Andover 11-2-1 held onto the No. 1 spot in the MNHockey.TV’s Class 2A Boys Power Rankings for Jan. 10-16.

Second-ranked Roseau (12-2) also maintained its position, while Cretin-Derham Hall bolted to No. 3, up from the seventh last week.

Lakeville South (9-2) moved to No. 4, from fifth, followed by Hill-Murray (9-3), Grand Rapids (10-3), Maple Grove (8-4-1), Moorhead (10-5) and Lakeville North (8-2-0).

Noticeably, Edina (8-5-0) fell out of the top-10 following a 5-2 home loss against Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Saturday.

Hermantown (10-1-0) held its No. 1 spot in Class 1A ahead of Warroad (14-0-0) and their game Saturday in Hermantown.

Little Falls (14-0-0) is third, followed by Delano (9-3-0), Duluth Denfeld (11-3-0), Mahtomedi (6-6-1), Detroit Lakes (9-4-0), Simpley (11-3-0), Alexandria (6-4-1) and Orono (6-6-1).

Looking ahead, Andover is a difficult team to measure. The Huskies play a soft schedule, but have posted wins against Roseau, Maple Grove, Cretin-Derham Hall and Hill-Murray. Losses are at Moorhead, 6-1, and at Rosemount, 3-2, along with a 2-2 overtime tie at Wayzata.

Roseau’s losses are against Andover and at home versus Warroad, in a 5-0 blowout.

Notebook: Hermantown’s Zam Plante will likely return from a shoulder injury for the Warroad game.
