Green Wave hold off Bulldogs - Advance to Semifinals

St. Paul, MN - The East Grand Forks Green Wave, a state tournament regular, held off the challenge from new comer Minnesota River Bulldogs bto advance to the semi-finals of the 75th Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament in Class A action.   Two first period goals by the Green Wave stood out as difference makers in the hockey game. 

Jackson Galstad and Tanner Mack each scored even strength goals in the first period and Mack added his second of the game at 5:36 of the second period to open up a 3-0 lead.  The Bulldogs looked more like junk yard dogs as the scrapped and battled the entire game and were rewarded with back-to-back goals that cut the Green Wave lead to 3-2.  Jade Reicks scored his 12th and 13th of the season for Minnesota River in a 4:22 span sending the game to intermission just one bounce away from knocking off the seeded Green Wave.  

East Grand Forks  (21-8-0) was not going to be denied as the rode the crest of two goals from Landon Parker who notched his 13th and 14th of the season allowing his team to pull away for the win.  Carter Beck also added two assists to he ledger for EGF.  Minnesota River (20-5-0) was led by goaltender made 38 saves in the loss.  He and his team will play at 10am against North Branch in the consolation semi-final at 3M Arena at Mariucci on Thursday. 

The Green Wave are in search of their akdkjdf state title will face the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders at 11am on Friday from the Xcel Energy Center.  That game can be heard right here at the MNHockey.Tv
