Breck Handles Lourdes Advances to Final

St. Paul, MN - The Breck Mustangs waltzed to another state tournament win by hammering the Rochester Lourdes Eagles 9-1 in the semifinal of the 2020 Minnesota State High School League Class A Girls’ hockey tournament.  Ms. Hockey finalist Olivia Mobley had four goals and an assist to propel her team to their second straight blow-out loss.

Leading by a modest 2-0 after one period, the Mustang's depth continued to prove to be the challenge for yet another opponent.  Three goals in the second and for more in the third by Breck (24-6) who has played a challenging schedule against the top Class AA and A teams in the state.

What is more stunning is the Eagles (18-11) were defeated by the Mustangs 6-5 on November 23rd at the Breck Anderson Arena.  The Mustangs saw to it that they would finish the deal as they attempt to capture their third straight state title and have outscored their opponents 17-1 on the grand stage this year.

Four Mustangs had two point efforts including Ashley Halvorson, Hannah Halvorson (2g), Sadie Lindsay (2a), and Emily Zumwinkle.  Ten different players picked up a point in the well-rounded win.

The Mustangs face the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks in the State Class A Championship game on Saturday at 4pm from the Xcel Energy Center.
